Julie Dawn Cole began her acting career after winning a place at stage school at the age of 11. Having been in a production of Peter Pan over Christmas in London’s West End, TV and film parts remained elusive, without much on her resume. By the time she was auditioning for ‘Willy Wonka’, she had decided to ‘wise up’ and embellished (fabricated) her CV and got away with it! The movie was not a box office success at the time, and was pretty much forgotten until the 1980s when it began to achieve cult status. In the meantime, other acting roles followed, in the original series of Poldark, Angels, and numerous theatre roles, including playing Titania in London’s Regents Park Open Air theatre. Julie retired from acting 15 years ago and qualified as a psychotherapist, working in Oncology and renal care. She was looking forward to retirement and concentrating on being a ‘Nana’ to 3 gorgeous grandchildren when Krafty Richard Kraft lured her out of her retirement plan and persuaded her to take to the boards again!
